Question:

I heard that there is a difference in glucosamine hydrochloride and glucosamine sulfate. What is the difference?

Answer:
Almost all scientific research has been done with glucosamine sulfate. For that reason glucosamine sulfate is used by most brands, including all brands that have registered glucosamine as a drug.

Glucosamine hydrochloride is a mild form. Little research has been done and in practice they seem less effective. Glucosamine hydrochloride has as advantage because of its mildness, that there is less chance of a sensitive stomach or sensitive bowels. When using glucosamine sulfate 3 to 5 percent of the users suffer from a sensitive stomach or sensitive bowels. So they could better use glucosamine hydrochlorid.
